High-Accuracy Reality Capture Modeling

Project Overview:

FCC carried out a full 3D laser scan survey of an airport lobby, capturing the complete as-built condition of the space with millimeter-level accuracy. The scan covered the entire interior environment, from structural floor to ceiling, including all architectural components and building systems. A key element of this project was the documentation of a building extension zone, where two connected structures meet, providing a precise record of the junction geometry. The deliverable serves as a reliable as-built reference for renovation planning, design development, and facility management.

  • Full interior ceiling captured including structural soffits, suspended systems, lighting fixtures
  • Walls, columns, and all vertical structural elements documented with precise geometry
  • Building extension and connection zone fully scanned, recording the exact as-built relationship between the two adjoining structures
  • Floor surfaces and level variations measured across all lobby and circulation areas

The scan data provides a comprehensive, measurable snapshot of the existing building condition, eliminating the need for repeated site visits and reducing risk throughout the renovation process.

Using 3D laser scanning, FCC created a complete digital record of the airport lobby’s existing condition. The point cloud provides accurate, verified geometry, from ceiling systems to floor level, while documenting complex building connections, ensuring the entire space is clearly understood before design or construction begins.
